Horton Plains National Park

Central Province, Sri Lanka

The misty and windswept landscape of Horton Plains, now a national park, is more reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands than of the tropics. Here at an altitude that varies from 1,800 to 2,160 metres are some of the island's most spectacular views, including the famous World's End — a sheer cliff dropping 880 metres. The valley is shadowed by Kirigalpotta and Totapola, Sri Lanka's second and third highest mountains.
